Abstract

The article is dedicated to the memory of Vadim Timofeevich Paka, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1984), an outstanding scientist in the field of experimental hydrophysics, who headed the Atlantic Department of the Institute of Oceanology of the USSR Academy of Sciences/RAS for almost 30 years (1980–2009). A number of measuring devices/complexes developed by him and brought to real use in the ocean/sea made it possible to obtain unique information about the microstructure of hydrophysical fields in the ocean, oceanic turbulence, and water mixing processes.
