Abstract

G.I. Barenblatt is an outstanding Soviet and Russian mechanic and mathematician whose scientifc works in the feld of problems of continuum mechanics are well known to the international scientifc community and are marked by many international honorary awards and prizes. In the feld of oceanology, he carried out a series of studies on the dynamics of the turbulence of a stratifed fluid (models of heavy particle transport by a turbulent flow, turbulent spot dynamics at a viscous spreading stage in a linearly stratifed fluid, etc.).
