Abstract

A brief account of the life path and basic scientifc works (on the thermohaline fnestructureof the ocean, on fronts, on the variability of the near-surface layer of the ocean) by the outstanding Soviet physicist-oceanologist, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences K.N. Fedorov, successfully combining scientifc activity on the basis of an integrated approach to ocean research (feld measurements, laboratory modeling, satellite information) with scientifc and organizational and international scientifc cooperation.
