Abstract

This article is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of A.S. Monin's birthday. The article discusses its role in the development of the P.P. Shirshov Institute of Oceanology Russian Academy of Sciences and the formation of deep-sea ocean research. The stated concepts are based on personal meetings of the author with A.S. Monin and on their joint dives.
