Abstract

The stories and memories of oceanologists Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A. P. Lisitsyn and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences G. B. Udintsev, recorded in 2002–2006, are presented. Peers (they turned 18 in the summer of 1941) and childhood friends, they were drafted into the army in July 1941, ending up in long-range aviation. Their classmates, fellow students, and teachers joined the Moscow militia.
