Abstract

According to the distribution of planktic foraminifera shells (own data), the climatic zones corresponding to different types of water masses in the Atlantic and southern parts of the Indian Ocean were reconstructed in the Turonian cores of deep-sea drilling. In addition, samples from Australia offshore seas and literature data on epicontinental basins of the Northern Hemisphere were used. Based on the spatial distribution of types of tanatocenoses, maps of climatic zonality for the early and middle Turonian have been reconstructed. A comparison of the reconstructions showed the dimensions of the climatic zones and the outline of their boundaries during the time interval. The middle Turonian was characterized by exceptionally warm and mild climatic conditions. In the late Turonian, there has been a certain tendency. This was most clearly manifested in the high latitudes of the Indian Ocean. The boundaries of all climatic zones shifted to the equator.
