Scientific and biographical sketch for the 100th anniversary of Academician L.M. Brekhovskikh, the creator and head of the scientific school on ocean acoustics, who received wide international recognition, is presented. Many scientists, both in our country and abroad, including those who have never met L.M. Brekhovskikh personally, consider themselves to be his disciples. This is due to the fact that the main works of L.M. Brekhovskikh, published in Russian, English and Chinese, according to many scholars, are the main teaching guide and reference book in their research work.
