Средне-верхнечетвертичные отложения северного сектора контуритовой системы континентального склона Патагонии (юго-западная Атлантика)

Аннотация

В результате литологического и микропалеонтологического (планктонные и бентосные фораминиферы, диатомеи) исследования четырех колонок донных осадков выявлены основные черты литостратиграфии и биостратиграфии верхнего слоя контуритов и гравититов, развитых в диапазоне глубин 3500–4300 м, северного сектора контуритовой системы континентального склона Патагонии. Установлено, что в условиях дефицита поступления терригенного материала с суши и высокой, хотя и резко изменчивой, интенсивности придонных контурных течений вод антарктического происхождения, в голоцене гемипелагические известковистые детритово-фораминиферовые осадки накапливались на поверхности средне-верхнеплейстоценовых контуритов в южной части района работ (ст. АИ-2609, АИ-2610). В северной части (ст. АИ-2611, АИ-2612) голоценовый известковистый поверхностный слой отсутствует, а вскрытые средневерхнечетвертичные разрезы контуритов и гравититов неравномерно обогащены диатомовыми и радиоляриями вплоть до образования слабокремнистых диатомовотерригенных илов. Переотложенные неогеновые фораминиферы и диатомовые свидетельствуют об эрозии подводных обнажений осадков этого возраста придонными течениями и гравитационными потоками.
