Abstract

This article examines the implementation of the Action Plan of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development over the first five years. It provides information on the number of actions taken by various Decade member states over eight calls to action. The low level of engagement among Russian marine scientists and specialists in the Decade is noted. Potential ways to increase Russian participation in the Decade are proposed.
