Abstract

Various natural phenomena pose a multi-level threat to underwater cultural heritage sites. These hazards can manifest themselves in the form of physical and chemical effects. They can be direct and indirect, one-time or cyclical and lead to the loss of unique cultural heritage sites located under water. An accurate understanding of the nature and the extent of the influence of various natural processes on the objects of underwater cultural heritage makes it possible to optimally organize its preservation. An important part of making decisions on the management and preservation of heritage is the assessment of the risks of devastating events and the use of objective approaches to their management.
