Abstract

September 14, 2023 marked the 90th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Ivanovich Blazhchishin, mining engineer-geologist, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, leading researcher of the Atlantic Department of the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russian Academy of Sciences. He was interesting and well-known scientist in the field of marine geology, who devoted himself to the study of the Baltic Sea. Alexander Ivanovich’s research range was wide – from studying the surface layer of the bottom of marine sediments to studying the nature of bottom gas craters (pokmarkov), stratigraphy, paleogeography and the evolution of sedimentation of the Baltic Sea.
