Abstract

May 17, 2022 will mark the 95th anniversary of the birth of Oleg Georgievich Sorokhtin, an outstanding Soviet and Russian scientist, geophysicist and geologist, founder of the Russian school of theory of lithospheric plate tectonics. Oleg Georgievich Sorokhtin – Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1973), Professor (1988), Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1991), from 1970 to 2005 Head of the Laboratory of Theoretical Geodynamics, since 2005 Chief Scientist of the Laboratory of Geodynamics and Paleoceanology at Shirshov Institute of Oceanology.
