Abstract

The article is devoted to the 70th anniversary of the birth of the eminent scientist of the IO RAS Valery Ivanovich Peresypkin (1955–2016), Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Head of the Laboratory of Ocean Chemistry, a major specialist in biogeochemistry and geochemistry of organic matter, who made a significant contribution to the study of the carbon cycle in the ocean. The article briefly reflects the life path of V. I. Peresypkin, recollections of his colleagues and relatives are given, the main achievements in the science are noted.
